The build has started. Dropped by on the way home from work to find two beutifully built frames, levelled and screwed to the floor. And a very happy johnny admiring the work. Great work guys.
Followed by the St Abbs frame.
Well done! Now just need some more money to pay for the glue.

Found a wonderful film of a Ring Netter being built by Weatherhead at Port Seton back in the 1960s. The title is “Build me Straight”.
Hope we can build our boats straight too, and it all starts with the frame and mould. So good luck to the Eyemouth Team who start in the morning.

Some of Oor Team
We had a very successfully meeting down at our workshop on Saturday morning. Lots of people came along to see where we’ll be building the skiffs and pledge their help. We’d like to thank everyone who turned out.
We’ll be building the Eyemouth and St. Abbs boats side by side. Eyemouth will be getting started on Monday morning at 9:00am. Us poor souls from St. Abbs have to work for our living, so we’ll be down in the evenings.
We have a comfy chair too.
We’ll be having a get together at 10:00am on Saturday at Dixon’s Yard so that everyone can come and see the Workshop. So if you’re interested in getting involved or are just curious you’re welcome to come along.
We’ve only just moved in, so there’s still a huge amount of work to be undertaken. But come along and see where we’ll be building our skiffs.
Johnny (Eyemouth), Penny (St Abbs), Joanna (St Abbs) and I attended the Scottish Borders Events Forum meeting tonight at Reston village hall. It was an interesting meeting and we came away with a very useful information pack all about hosting events. I am sure we be in contact with the forum again to tap into their knowledge of hosting events throughtout the Scottish borders. As sometime in the future we’ll have a rowing regatta to host. They also offers us lots of interesting advice on raising funding.

On Monday Johnny took procession of the key for the Workshop, at Dixon’s Yard down by the harbour front in Eyemouth. Scottish Borders Council has donate the use of the building rent free for three months, as part of their “following the public pound” scheme. So many thanks to the Council.
A dedicated bunch of Eyemouthers spend Monday giving the warehouse a good wash and general spring clean. In the photo above you can see Tim and Mick clad in their boilersuits.
We had a really successful inaugural meeting tonight at the Lifeboat Shed (thank you Alistair for letting us use the meeting room). With 19 people attending from St Abbs, Coldingham and Eyemouth, we really had to pack ourselves in. Johnny as always was an inspiration, explaining the Scottish Coastal Rowing Project and the progress Eyemouth has made.
We also had a lot of news about the St Abbs project to share. We’d put the kart before the horse at St Abbs by having the boat ordered and delivered before we’d even had a meeting. So we were playing catch up. At tonight’s meeting we have:
All in all it was really encouraging to see the interest this project has generated in all three communities.
So now the hard work begins.

Today we visited North Berwick (Cha. and myself) saw the great work being done on the two skiffs and have been greatly encouraged by all we saw. Now have verbal approval of our application for the lease of the lock up in the centre of Eyemouth for the building of the skiffs. Watch this space.
